Mr. Arthur Schankula, Principal, Schankula Architekten, München, DE

A Range of Storey’s:  The Potential of Hybrid Prefab Systems in Schools and Commercial Projects to 8 Storey Residential Structures
Arthur Schankula
Principal, Schankula Architekten, München, DE

Arthur Schankula was born in Romania and lives in Germany. He studied mechanical engineering before transitioning to architecture. After working for several architectural firms, he started his own company in 2003.  He has developed a number of building-systems based on wood, mostly as part of publicly sponsored research assignments. Arthur’s interest in wood construction was sparked by an analysis of rational building methods. Wood’s suitability for prefabrication and fast construction times is what first attracted him to begin experimenting with the material. Arthur has written extensively on wood prefabrication, energy efficiency, and tall wood construction. His projects have   been featured throughout Germany and internationally as examples of innovative and sustainable design techniques.
