The Canadian Wood Council, the national association representing Canadian manufacturers of wood products used in construction, seeks a highly motivated and skilled individual to advance the use of wood products as a state-of-the-art building material.
The candidate will be responsible for strategic building code and standards initiatives; applied engineering problem-solving; developing new design tools and publications; and delivery of end products through seminars and media to targeted audiences, including engineers, architects, building officials and fire service.
The ideal candidate will be able to apply the principles and practices of fire safety engineering and/or fire protection engineering; have building code regulations and construction knowledge; and have sound engineering skills. A relevant engineering degree is desired, and professional registration is an asset. A minimum of three years of experience (or equivalent) in the field of codes and standards or fire protection / fire safety engineering is preferred. Ability to regularly travel within North America will be required.
In addition, the candidate should have strong communication skills both written and oral; sound computer skills; an understanding of the wood products industry; and the ability to work in an English and French environment. The position is based in Ottawa.
