Casual Eats and Mass Timber Connections: An informal after hours educational event

Join us for an evening of tasting and testing as we delve into our favorite things: Timber Engineering, Great Eats and Beer.

Interested in learning more about mass timber design and modern timber connection systems?

We’ve organized an educational event specifically for timber engineers interested in the structural design of mass timber components and timber connection systems. This is an opportunity to learn about new research completed with local universities and explore interesting timber projects through interactive design sessions and live testing demonstrations. Enjoy delicious food and locally brewed beer while you network with other like-minded engineers.

6:45pm – 7:45pm: Tasting and Testing – Hands-On Destructive Testing on:

  • Notched Beam Reinforcement
  • Compression Reinforcement
  • CLT Lapjoint with Shear Screws
  • CLT Lapjoint with Inclined Screws

7:45pm – 8:30pm – Networking and Tasting

This event qualifies for professional development continuing education credits

Fire Performance Demonstration Workshop 2.0 – understanding fire design: applications

Description: This educational, entertaining and interactive one-day outdoor event will include formal classroom lectures and roll-up-your-sleeves interactive sessions.  The day will conclude with a live burn of several demonstration boxes that will be built to code and will include a Course of Construction mass timber box along with a mass timber combustible vs a steel stud non-combustible box.

This comprehensive program will:

  • examine the current building code’s fire safety strategies;
  • draw from examples of current design and construction practices; and
  • provide valuable insight into proposed legislation pertaining to upcoming code changes.
