The use of wood in the Sechelt Justice Building has enhanced the overall building design immeasurably. Although wood has been featured throughout the building, it has taken on a variety of forms, for example, the use of glulam beams to act as wood trusses for the entrance and general office of the RCMP Detachment, MDF shop-finished panels instead of acoustical ceiling tiles, oak veneer millwork throughout the courtroom, heavy timber processional archways at the courthouse entrance, heavy timber screen cladding around the lower level parking garage and heavy red cedar boards in an exterior rain screen application. These examples display the versatility of wood. The warmth of colour and resonance of wood has softened the modern edges of the design adding a human scale to the entire building.

The building is approximately 24,000 sq ft. It is an RCMP Detachment and Provincial Courthouse.
