Tall Wood Buildings: Design, Construction & Performance

As the interest in Tall Wood buildings continues to grow in Canada and internationally, this lecture provides an overview of the challenges and opportunities this new typology brings for architects and engineers. With a focus on mass wood construction, and reference to completed projects from around the world, this presentation (based on the 2017 book of the same name, by Jim Taggart and Michael Green) will review the current and emerging options and best practices with respect to material choice, structural systems, and building performance.
Lessons Learned from Mass Timber Innovation

Seagate Structures will focus on identifying the factors that make up a successful Mass Timber project including the major issues that can develop as a result of poor planning through Design, Prefabrication, Procurement and Install. In addition we will explain how Mass Timber has the potential to disrupt the current construction marketplace if projects are done correctly.
13-storey wood building in Québec City: Origine Project
