2013 Prairie Wood Design Awards Winners for 2013
Alberta Wood WORKS! is pleased to announce the award recipients for the 2013 Prairie Wood Design awards. Eight projects and an Engineer Wood Advocate were selected from over forty entries by our esteemed jury panel: David J. Bowick, Principal, Blackwell Structural Engineers; Brian Court, Associate, Miller Hull Partnership, LLP; Steve Raike, Associate Partner, Lake Flato Architects.
We were joined by more than 180 wood advocates from industry the design community and government including:
• Minister of Infrastructure, Honourable Wayne Drysdale
• Associate Minister of Seniors, Honourable George VanderBurg
• Michael Giroux, President, Canadian Wood Council
• Étienne Lalonde, VP of Marketing with the Canadian Wood Council
to celebrate the innovative designs incorporating Alberta’s sustainable resource, wood into our local buildings.
The caliber of entries was extremely high this year, making the selection process challenging for the jury. Selections were based on considerations such as creativity, appropriate use of wood materials, ability to satisfy the client’s building and site requirements and overall aesthetic appeal.
