Architect
Shelley Craig of Urban Arts Architecture Vancouver, BC
The Mid-Rise Project
The work being done by this architect has already been recognized by the Architectural Institute of BC, with a Lieutenant Governor of BC 2008 Innovation Award. Our 2009 Architect of the Year has helped lead the way to find increased opportunities for wood use in non-residential construction through her research of wood construction practices in buildings greater than four stories. This architect’s research resulted in aiding the province of BC to amend the building code to allow for wood use in mid-rise buildings. The Jury chose this architect because they believe the work she has done will lead the way to further development in wood design solutions.
