BC Premier’s Wood Champion
…award goes to Kalesnikoff Lumber of Thrums, British Columbia!
The Premier’s Wood Champion Award recognizes individuals or organizations who have been significant advocates of the use of Canadian wood in construction in B.C. or abroad; or have contributed significantly to the selection of wood in project(s) that demonstrate innovation of design with wood or the use of wood as a sustainable, climate-friendly building product.
Winner:
This year’s Premier’s Wood Champion award was chosen at the discretion of the Jury.
The award goes to an outstanding British Columbia family business, a business that has survived the ups and downs of economic swings for more than 65 years, and throughout it all has managed to provide a high quality wood product.
This Wood Champion business exemplifies the spirit of the forest and wood products industry as it has always had a strong commitment to being good stewards of the land.
The company’s motto is emblazoned on their lumber’s paper wrap:
“Take care of the land and the land will take care of you”.
The Jury said that their decision to recognize this company was based on the company’s tenacity, ingenuity and commitment to their employees and their community.
Attention to quality and service is paramount, and their wood products can be found in projects around the world. Canadian projects include award winning Olympic buildings such as the Olympic Oval, Cross Country and Biathalon Centres and the Sliding Centre. Not constrained to Canada, their wood can be found in large American projects such as the Raleigh-Durham Airport and as far afield as Japan and Europe.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased to announce that this year’s Wood Champion award goes to Kalesnikoff Lumber of Thrums, British Columbia!
